Gymnastics Classes Registration Now Open for January Programs The New Canaan Recreation Department has announced a new series of child and youth gymnastic classes to begin in January 2008. Kids in Motion will host and instruct the programs at their New Canaan facility offering creative lessons and fun filled classes promoting physical exercise, gymnastics skills, self-confidence, coordination, social skills and creativity. The Kids in Motion staff of professionals have the ability to recognize each child’s potential and the dedication to help them achieve it. Babies in Motion/Parent & Child- ages 10 to 36 months Children share quality time with their parents or caregivers while learning and growing together. Weekly lessons provide one on one opportunities to discover your child’s potential and see how they react to different stimuli. Our warm caring staff assists with creative ideas as the children learn how to move developing gymnastics skills, self-confidence, social skills and independence. An 18 week program starting January 28, meeting once a week from 10:15-10:55, you may select one of five classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays. The program fee is $435 per child. A minimum on 3 children are required for each class. Pre-School Gymnastics- ages 3 to 5 years Participation in this program increases the child’s gymnastics skills and physical coordination developing versatility, adaptability and the ability to cope with various tasks and situations. Weekly sessions provide challenging lessons in gymnastics and movement education. Students build self-esteem, social skills, cognitive awareness and creativity better preparing them for school, sports and other activities. An 18 week program starting January 28, meeting once a week from 9:15-10:15, you may select one of five classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays. The program fee is $525 per child. A minimum on 3 children are required for each class. Girl’s After School Gymnastics- ages 5 to 7 years Students will use state of the art movement education equipment, along with the traditional balance beam, uneven bars, vault and spring floor for tumbling. The professional staff will group students by skill level within each class beginner, intermediate and advanced. Skill development, self-confidence and coordination learned can be adapted to build success in other physical challenges in life. An 18 week program starting January 28, meeting once a week from 4:15-5:15, you may select one of five classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays. The program fee is $525 per child. A minimum on 3 children are required for each class. Hot Shots Team Gymnastics- ages 7 to 10 Part of the ACRO STARS Recreational Team Training Program, the professional staff help each gymnast develop skills on vault, bars, beam and floor and learn USA Gymnastics routines. Lessons emphasize progressions for harder skill acquisition and advance techniques. Participation in fun meets will compliment this program. An 18 week program starting January 28, meeting once a week from 3:45-5:15 or 5:15-6:45, you may select one of five classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays. The program fee is $625 per child. A minimum on 3 children are required for each class. Registration is currently open at the New Canaan Recreation Department Office in Waveny House.
