Golf instruction is coming to Saxe Middle School students on Tuesdays in January 2008. Sponsored by the New Canaan Recreation Department as a part of the new Middle School Choices Program, a new indoor instructional program for middle school boys and girls will be offered after school at the Saxe Middle School Gym. Seventh and Eighth Grade boys and girls will begin on Tuesdays with 5 one-hour lessons after school from 2:15 to 3:15 beginning January 15 through February 26 (no class on 2/5, 2/19). Fifth and Sixth Grade boys and girls will begin on Tuesdays with 5 one-hour lessons after school from 3:15 to 4:15 beginning February 26 through March 25. The five week classes of progressive golf instruction are offered to the first time beginner through advanced player and will be instructed by PGA golf professional Lloyd Matey. Instruction will begin with the golf grip and continue with the mini swing, full swing, stretching, and drills. All equipment will be supplied by the instructor. Registration is open to Saxe Middle School students and is currently being taken at the Recreation Office for a fee of $90.00 per person. Each class is limited to 8 participants. |
