The Waveny Youth Paddle Program is returning in 2008 offering youths in grades 5 through 8 a chance to learn and play the winter sport of Paddle Tennis on the Waveny Park Paddle Courts. The five-week program meets once a week and will be supervised by Tracey Volet focusing primarily on play and small group instruction will be keyed to the needs of the class. Bonus competition will also be arranged for everyone against area clubs on additional dates. Parents must drop off and pick up their child from the courts each day of the program. Participants must bring their own paddle racquet or borrow one of the available loaner racquets. Registration is currently open at the Recreation Department Office to New Canaan residents for a fee of $50. per player. Participants may bring their own paddle racquet or borrow a loaner, while balls will be provided. Each program requires a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 participants.
