Mead Park Tennis Courts 2009 Additional Info:
The Town of New Canaan operates eight regulation Har-Tru tennis courts at Mead Park. Two of the courts are lighted for night play. All players must have a current year permit to use the courts. Permits are available to New Canaan residents and all guests on the courts must play with a permit holder. Weather permitting, the courts are open from May through October. Reservations for the use of the courts may be made up to two days in advance in person, by telephone, or through the online reservation system. Preference for the use of the courts shall be given to adult and senior citizen permit holders on week days after 5:00 p.m. and all day Saturday, Sunday, and holidays. The Town also maintains an all-weather court and practice court at Mead Park which are available for use all year. Permits are not necessary for this court. Proper attire must be worn and participants must use the honor system to change on the hour. The telephone number of the Mead Park tennis courts is 203-594-3618.
Permits and Fees 2009

Permits for the 2009 season are available to New Canaan residents and must be obtained in advance at the Recreation Department Office in Waveny House, as no permits will be sold at the courts. Permits- a permit process includes a photo identification card. A photo of each individual will be taken at the time of registration. This Photo ID Card must be presented to the court attendant before each use with no exceptions. Card holders must present their Photo ID Card to sign in a guest. The lost pass/reprint fee is $5. The purchase of a Tennis Pass may only be made in person at the Recreation Department Office in Waveny House. To purchase a pass, proof of residency must be presented for each individual purchasing a membership pass in the form of a driver's license or current utility bill. Proof of age is required for individuals under age 18 or age 62 and older in the form of a driver's license, birth certificate, or valid passport. The fee must be paid by check, cash or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) at the time of registration. Permits go on sale the first week of April.

Weekdays - May through August 14: 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
                 - August 17 through October: 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays - May through August 30: 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
                 - September 5 through October: 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Permit Fees (These permits entitle the individual the privilege of using the courts at Mead Park for the 2009 season.

Adults (18 to 61 years of age) $85.
Senior Citizens (62 years of age and older) $45.
Youth (17 years of age and under) $20.
Guest Fee (per day) $5.

Permits for Mead Park Tennis Courts

Any bona fide New Canaan resident will be entitled to a tennis permit upon application to the Recreation Office, submission of satisfactory proof of eligibility, and payment of the fee required.

  1. Adult Permit: This permit entitles eligible adults (age 18 and over) the privilege of using the courts at Mead Park for the season.
  2. Youth Permit: This permit entitles eligible youths (age 17 and under) the privilege of using the courts at Mead Park for the season, weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and at other times when the courts are available.
  3. Senior Citizen Permit: This permit entitles senior citizens (age 62 and over) the privilege of using the courts at Mead Park for the season.

 

 METHODS OF COURT RESERVATION

Permit holders are permitted to reserve only one court per day for a 60 minute time block. An additional reservation on the same day may be made only after completing your first reserved court of the day. Permit holders may reserve a court by any of the following methods:

  • Online Reservation- 24 hours a day, anywhere internet access is available, you may make a court reservation using your access email address and password (your permit number followed by your last name- no spaces). The online reservation system will also allow you to manage your reservation(s) by changing a time or court cancellation.
  • By Telephone- daily after 8:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., except on rainy days when 4:00 p.m. is the cut-off time, you may call 594-3618 and reserve a court with the attendant on duty. You must register your permit number and name with the attendant.
  • In Person- daily beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., you may reserve a court at the Tennis Hut with the attendant on duty. You must have your permit available to show the attendant for the reservation.
